Ductless Guide
Small size delivers big performance. Mitsubishi’s line of ductless technology features lightweight, compact designs; however, the M series was especially designed for installations where space is a premium. But don’t be fooled by its small size. The M series still packs a lot of power for fast cooling comfort. Plus it easily blends into the room for pleasant aesthetic appeal. Mitsubishi Electric helped pioneer the ductless technology (or split-ductless) to provide Japan's growing population with an efficient way to cool and heat their homes and businesses. They designed the Mr. Slim system to fit into spaces that could not otherwise have been effectively heated or cooled due to the close proximity of Japan's buildings, plus they needed a system that was quiet.

The term ductless means simply that no ductwork is involved. The system is comprised of two units: a slim-line outdoor condenser, and an indoor air handler. The condenser supplies coolant to the air handler through refrigerant lines that run through a small opening in the wall or ceiling and into the back of the unit. The air handler takes in supply air from the room through the front grill and dispenses the newly-cooled air back into the room. For certain models special filters are available that promote added humidity control and filtration.

Ductless systems allow you to condition or heat spaces you previously thought impossible. Mr. slim has two basic components: an indoor air handler (evaporator) and an outdoor condensing unit. The two easily connect via refrigerant lines running through a mere 3” opening in the wall or ceiling. The outdoor unit (condenser) pumps the refrigerant through the refrigerant lines to the evaporator coil where the air is conditioned, then distributed into the space. In some models, the outdoor unit can be placed up to 164 feet away from the indoor unit. This length can also include the height difference from the indoor unit so cooling a second or third story is no problem. If no ground space is available, the outdoor unit can also be easily mounted on the rooftop or on an exterior wall with brackets. Installing Mr. Slim’s indoor evaporator requires only a wall mounting plate or a set of threaded rods or ceiling recessed or suspended models. In most cases, these and a 3” wall or ceiling opening to the outside is all you need. Just plan for power connections and condensation draining, and you’re basically done.

Cooling anything from a Sunroom to the Entire House!
• Ideal for Hot Water or Electric Baseboard Heating Systems!
• Economical, Efficient, Super Quiet!

Remote Controlled Wall Mounted Units!
Mr. Slim ductless systems are much more effective than room and portable units. Since hot air rises and cold air drops, Mr. Slim units are installed up high and close to the ceiling, extracting the hot air from the ceiling distributing the cool dry air at a high level. Cooling from top to bottom instead of from the bottom up provides comfortable, even room temperatures throughout rather than cold feelings from the waist down.

Ductless Air Conditioning: What You Should Know

Fewer homeowners are clueless about ductless air conditioning systems because those who already have them installed are getting the word out about how economical and efficient they can be. They're called ductless because they use no ductwork or air distribution systems. Because of that, there are few places where the systems cannot be installed. In addition to homes, the systems have been placed in small and large offices, shops, motels and hotels, schools and universities, computer rooms, banks, hospitals, and labs.

Ductless sytems are made up of four components: The condensing unit, located outside the building; the indoor unit or units which can be wall or ceiling mounted; thin refrigerant lines, which connect the outdoor unit to the indoor unit; and a wireless remote or wall monitor which controls the entire system.

According to the Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Institute (ARI), there are a number of benefits users get with a ductless system. These include:

• Easy installation, easy maintenance
• Quiet operation and heating, too
• Simple control
• Attractive and efficient design
